70s design with a difference

New common rooms at Haus Effata delight residents with their pleasant cosiness and unique retro style.

Blankenheim/Mechernich – The redesign of the residents' lounges at Haus Effata is in full swing. The Blankenheim senior care facility, run by the Mechernich-based social welfare organisation Communio in Christo e.V., is drawing on a wide variety of themes and motifs – from farms with cute animals to 1970s style. The result: "Lots of good taste and a focus on the needs of the residents."

"We are all familiar with the typical floral pattern wallpaper of that decade," recalls facility manager Sonja Plönnes from the facility's social services department. But there is no need to worry about football-sized flowers in orange/brown tones and other intense colour experiences.

Because: “The 1970s design works differently today, but still very well. We placed a lot of emphasis on creating a pleasant, cosy atmosphere in this special retro style. The harmonious concept is tailored to the age and viewing habits of the residents, without any musty repetition.”

The result is an attractive and modern living environment at Haus Effata. Work has been completed in the upper two areas and, fortunately, the new look has been "very well received by the residents".
